When I first heard about engineering:
I first heard about Engineering in high school from my physics teacher. During our class, he would use examples given to him from his brother who is an engineer. From that point on, I knew I wanted to be an engineer.
Why I chose my school and program:
The main reason why I chose the University of Saskatchewan was because I wanted to stay close to my home. The second reason was because I heard good things about the Engineering program at the U of S. When I initially started the Engineering program, I was more interested in electrical engineering; however, by the end of the first year of Engineering, I became more interested in mechanical engineering. Hence, I chose to major in mechanical engineering.
What I like most about engineering:
I like that engineering gives you a wide variety of opportunities, especially as a student. I got the chance to work as a summer student throughout the program, get lots of hands on work throughout an Internship opportunity, and network with a large number of amazing companies. I especially like that we get to work with a diverse amount of courses, ideas, and materials rather than working on the same thing every day. This uniqueness is what keeps me interested in engineering.
Where you will find me outside of classes:
I am a very outgoing and outdoors person. During the warm weather I enjoy camping, fishing, boating, and canoeing. During winter I enjoy curling, playing hockey, ice fishing, and skidooing.
My inspiration:
There are many people who inspire me to be the best person I can be. My parents are one of those who inspire me the most. My parents have always supported my educational decisions from the beginning, they help me in every way that they can, and they push me to succeed and have fun while doing it. My second inspiration is my wife. Who has been by my side since the beginning, who encourages me to do my best, and supports every decision I make. Lastly, my high school physics teacher has had a huge influence on my decision to pursue engineering in the first place, as well as continue to be involved even when I need help with assignments till this day. Without them, I wouldn't have imagined myself as an Engineer.
